Even people who have been doing Internet marketing for awhile probably do not really understand Web 2.0 marketing. Web 2.0 is a perceived or proposed second generation of the web. This is were the web has evolved and improved over time and now offers better and more up to date services like blogs, wiki, social networking sites etc.

I titled this article Web 2.0 for dummies, not to insult you, but to try to simplify what it really means. in its simplest form, Web 2.0 marketing is where you share information and work together with other users of the Internet.

This is certainly being done when people blog. If you can post comments, add content, vote on polls, and vote on things like audio and video, you are able to become a part of the process. This interaction is really what Web 2.0 marketing is all about.

So if you are smart, you figure out ways to do this that will benefit your Internet business. You have no business if you have no customers. People no longer use the Internet the same way that they did even a couple years ago.

Certainly, search engine traffic is important, but so are social networking sites and social networking directories. Social marketing is a large part of Web 2.0 marketing. Social communities such as My Space are huge and can really be a benefit to your home business if you use it properly.

You probably already you do this, but if you do not, you should go see what the competition is up to. To get some ideas about what the big boys are doing Google search one of the most competitive keyword phrases in your niche.

Look at the top 10 websites that come up and see what they are doing in relation to social networking and Web 2.0 marketing. I would be willing to bet that the majority of them are heavily involved in marketing their home business this way.

You can very easily get started with your own blog. Use a Word Press platform and add a plug-in that allows you to bookmark all of your blog articles to some of the top social directories. Then go join a couple of social communities and start getting involved in them.

Doing this on a consistent basis will go a long way to help you cement relationships online. Create more traffic to your site, and begin developing back links to search engines love.

Web 2.0 is probably in its infancy stage and who knows where it will all end up. The sooner you get on board the better off your site and your home business will be.
